From The Gazette in Colorado we have Rich Laden:

The increase in housing inventory might help push prices higher, said Marilyn Newell of the Platinum Group Realtors in the Springs and another Realtors Association board member.

More supply means prices go up?!?

Or as Upton Sinclair put it rather more succintly, "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."

Wow... This quote has become everyone's whore. I read it in an article three weeks ago, then saw it in "An Inconvenient Truth", then today in Krugman's column for the Times, and now here......

But it's utterly accurate...

Engineers do it all the time. They refuse to believe that their bosses will higher cheaper replacements for them straight out of the new graduating class!

The realtor gets paid if a transaction gets made. She's in a "sell-side" world, and she refuses to believe that transactions are discretionary, and you can always cut out the middle man.
